Poly Bags

You probably didn’t know that Olaf was the first in Western Canada to help a major supermarket chain to change from paper checkstand bags to plastic. That equates to thousands of saved trees – and counting.

Olaf also developed the first major recycling program for plastic bags in Western Canada. In 1986, the environmental options program was created – with our customer – long before the media grabbed hold of environmentalism. Shoppers brought their used shopping bags back and Olaf melted them down to make garbage bags which were sold back at a significant discount. We literally took thousands of pounds of waste out of landfills. Finally, we were also the first to bring significant quantities of re-usable nylon checkstand bags into Western Canada.

Today, we produce very few checkstand bags, but we do sell millions of bags that protect your meat, bread and vegetables. But most importantly, we have the key learning from our checkstand experience: we must be constantly be working with our customers to innovate and support their success. Very few manufacturers share this mindset.

Depending on our customer’s needs, we source poly bags from 6 different factories in 3 countries. We have the most complete offering of substrates, laminates and print capabilities in Western Canada. Don’t be bound by one manufacturer’s capabilities, your options are global.

Our in-house design team will help you design the packaging that optimizes the profits of your product. We judiciously take on only the customers we know we can help. Our customers have achieved sales increases of up to 30% just by leveraging the power of packaging and having the option to procure better. Give us a call we’ll give you immediate options to get the most out of your packaging.

Many of our customers have benefited from our stock and draw programs. We plan for their annual volumes and run larger quantities to drive down costs, meanwhile the customer draws the product as needed. So many of our customers have outgrown their ability to store packaging, and paying for supplies as you use them (vs. upfront) just makes sense.

Sometimes, we add the most value by reducing cost. We recently saved a national grocery chain over 20% on their millions of bread bags. How? Efficiency. Check out the bagger below.
